Signal Theory, a behavioral science-driven advertising agency, is partnering with BLAC (Building Leaders And Creators), a national internship program dedicated to bringing more Black and underrepresented talent into the advertising industry.

Through the partnership, Signal Theory will serve as a host agency for BLAC’s 2026 summer internship program, running May 18 through August 7, 2026. The 12-week paid program places the next generation of advertising talent in leading agencies across the country, surrounding them with education, mentorship, hands-on experience and a community of peers and industry leaders.

“We believe investing in diverse talent makes our work – and our industry – better,” said Jim Vranicrar, COO at Signal Theory. “Our partnership with BLAC is a meaningful step toward building a more representative, more creative industry.”

The BLAC partnership is the latest chapter in Signal Theory’s more than two decades of commitment to diversifying the advertising talent pipeline. The agency has a long history of investing in underrepresented students – from scholarships at Wichita State University to its Resonance Scholarship, which supported students from diverse backgrounds pursuing careers in creative roles or the creative industry. Joining BLAC extends that commitment nationally, connecting Signal Theory with emerging talent who may not yet know about the opportunities a career in advertising can offer.

About the BLAC Internship Program

Signal Theory joins a group of more than 20 agencies nationwide participating in the 2026 BLAC program, with senior talent acquisition manager, Nancy Lischer, as the agency's representative for the program.

BLAC’s program includes an introductory week of virtual programming with the national cohort, eight-and-a-half weeks of hands-on agency work, a collaborative pitch project with national brands and a career fair connecting interns with hiring agencies and companies. Interns also participate in twice-weekly community meetings and skills development workshops throughout the summer.

Building the Future of Advertising

To date, BLAC has supported nearly 300 up-and-coming professionals, many of whom are currently thriving in advertising, marketing and related creative industries.

“The best work doesn’t come from a single perspective – it comes from a room full of different ones,” said Nancy Lischer, senior talent acquisition manager at Signal Theory. “We are proud to be a part of the movement BLAC is building, and we can’t wait to see what our interns bring to the table this summer.”
